Meals and Memories Book Review
Review by Crazy for Scrappin':Meals and Memories: How to Create Keepsake Cookbooks is a book by Kathy Steligo that walks you through using a cookbook as a means to record family memories. After reading her book I realized how many of my fond family memories really are related to food: My mother's traditional Christmas cookies, family dinners at my grandmother's with roast beef and yorkshire pudding, even my dad's unusual attempts at cooking! What a great idea to use a cookbook as an alternative "scrapbook" and record some of these memories and recipes. This book is very simple and easy to understand. It is so simple in fact that a couple of the chapters leave you wanting for even more detail. However, the book is organized very well. The chapters take you step by step through the process of creating a cookbook and gives you pointers on chosing a theme, style, layout etc. You could make a keepsake cookbook on the computer or "scrapbook" each page and add pictures etc. The author lists many resources throughout the book to help you make your own keepsake cookbook easier. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for ways to record cherised family memories. Afterall for us avid scrapbookers, recording memories is the real purpose behind our passion isn't it? |
