Punch Out Your PagesThis article sounds like it's all about what to do when you're having "page rage" at a scrapbook page that's not turning out right!! But it's really all about creative ways to use punches in your scrapbooks. There are many books about punch art available on the market, such as "Punch Your Art Out" by Memory Makers and this article is not really intended to re-create some of those ideas. Instead we hope to show you some simple, yet innovative ways to use your punches and create beautiful scrapbook pages with punch! Border Punches
Border punches are easy to use. If you have trouble "eyeballing it" to get it to line up straight, we have found that it is helpful to draw a light pencil line to use as a guide in lining it up. Corner PunchesWe absolutely love corner punches. And there are innovative ways to use them too. You can remove the corner guides from the corner punches and use the punch to make straight borders! This is one of our favorite ways to use corner punches. Just take a butter knife and gently pry out the 2 plastic guides. Don't worry about breaking it, because that is very hard to do. Punch your straight border and then pop the guides back in! Use a light pencil line to help you make your border straight, just the same as when using a regular border punch. The teardrop and starburst corner punches form Family Treasures make especially pretty borders. We also love to use corner slot punches. The most obvious way to use them is to mount your pictures without using adhesive (a perfect answer if you might need to move the picture later), Simply cut the paper you are using to mount your picture about 3/8" larger than your photo. Then punch all 4 corners and slip your photo through the little slot that the punch makes. Voila! Very easy and classy too. You can use corner punches to mount titles or pieces of journaling the same way.
Punch out your MattesCreative mattes on your photos can really add a lot to your page. Here are a few ways that you can spruce up your mattes with punches.
We hope you have some great new ideas to help you have fun punching out your pages. When you get together at your next scrappin' party why not have everyone bring their punches to share and punch away!
