same as 1st The second edition of the Art of Rubber Stamping, Easy as 1,2,3 is just a very
slightly updated version of the first edition, that is no longer in print! Although I
doubt it will ever be a collectible, I probably have some of the first edition books. But,
the second edition is prettier (it has a nice pink cover instead of white). --This text

Decorative Stenciling & Stamping : A Practical Guide
Although the expected is here (note cards, wrapping paper, boxes), so is the
delightfully unexpected (a fire screen, a chef's hat and apron, a coffee table, ceramic
dishware, candles), all of it attractively handled. The majority of the more than 40
projects are home-decor pieces, and there are also various clothing items and paper
products, plus some nice children's items, presented with good step-by-step directions and
clear color photos. The instructional emphasis is more on individual items than on whole
rooms, but a number of photo spreads show fully coordinated effects, from walls to window
treatments to bed linens to a hutch full of various accessories. --Amy Handy
Stamping : Beautiful Ways to Decorate Paper, Fabric, Wood, and Ceramics (The Weekend
Crafter Series)
Despite the plethora of available rubber stamps, there's
nothing quite like being able to make your own in exactly the design you want. The
emphasis here is on doing just that--out of rubber erasers, cork, fruits and vegetables,
linoleum, polystyrene, sponges, wood, even crumpled paper--resulting in stamps that are
not only unique but generally cost much less than the ready-made kind. Then use your
one-of-a-kind creations to adorn vases, chairs, walls, pillows, containers, coasters, desk
accessories, lampshades, and candles. The projects are easy and folk-art charming. --Amy

Beyond very solid groundwork on all kinds of stamping basics as well as
more advanced techniques such as masking, embossing, creating depth and shadows, and
producing dimensional effects, this wonderful book offers plenty of smart advice on making
color choices, working with patterned repeats, stamping on a variety of different
surfaces, combining stamping with other crafts, and assessing a room to overcome what may
be the hardest part of all--figuring out where to begin. Walls, floors, furniture, linens,
pillows, and accessories take on unique looks, more interesting than most wallpapers or
purchased fabrics, and certainly much more exciting than solid-color surfaces. If you're
new to stamping, start with something small like a mirror frame, mini-chest, place mat, or
flowerpot. But even the more ambitious projects--tables, curtains, bureaus, embossed
velvet, entire walls--are made approachable in this very appealing presentation. --Amy

has extended its appeal to experienced artisans and resulted in many advanced techniques,
along with increased costs for materials. Fortunately, help is at hand in this wonderful

groundwork. Wisely avoiding the cutesy look to which this craft often succumbs, the author
